On the occasion of her 100th anniversary in 2004, Barenbrug has been awarded the designation ‘Royal’. The past one hundred years this family business acquired a unique and leading position in her sector, as one of the largest grass-seed companies in the world. The next '100' years Barenbrug will be known as the Royal Barenbrug Group.

Barenbrug has successfully developed grass varieties with unique characteristics such as disease resistance, draught tolerance, slow growing turf varieties, shade and wear tolerance. About 200 cultivars are registered with Plant Breeders Rights or Variety Patents. New innovations include a breakthrough in unique food quality improving characteristics of grass for the production of dairy products.
