Seed Enhancement Technologist    


The Seed Enhancement Technologist will lead and coordinate the seed enhancement technology and physiology research on grasses and forage legumes for the Global Barenbrug Group. This new position will be located at our research station in Wolfheze, the Netherlands with a direct report to our global research director.


In this position, you will be responsible for:

  • Development and implementation of new seed treatment and coating technologies Investigate the use of new coating ingredients and binders
  • Documentation and standardisation for use of ingredients; testing, product, recipe and process protocols
  • Enhancing transfer of knowledge between companies in the Barenbrug Group
  • Translate market requirements and strategic goals into projects
  • Representing Barenbrug in projects with universities, companies and other technology suppliers
  • Documentation, tracking and analyses of local trials including recommendations and communication


Required skills and qualifications:

  • University degree (PhD) in plant biology, seed physiology or related field
  • At least 5 years’ experience with seed technology (seed treatment processes, disinfection, priming, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills including presentation, education and persuasion
  • Ability to work with lab technicians as well as factory supervisors and seed enhancement machinery operators
  • Experience with project management and proven ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience with bio-stimulants & microbiological applications like bacteria and fungus (Rhizobia, Bacillus, Mycorrhiza)
  • Creative and innovative thinker
  • Ability to cope well with high level of responsibility and independence
  • Willingness to travel internationally on occasion
